Sauce is the pseudonym Peak Hill artist Scott James Towney uses when signing his beautiful pyrography work.
Pyrography is the ancient art of wood burning, and Sauce has raised the craft to a new level, especially with his sympathetic portraits of aboriginal people.
At his Peak Hill studio, Source uses an electronic multi voltage woodburner to produce strong images of the Australian landscape, and sensitive and powerful portraits of his people.
Sauce learned his art in relative isolation, and developed his skills through trial and error.
Unknown outside his immediate environment until recent years, Sauce and his work have gained a loyal and widening respect, not only among his Wiradjuri people, but in mainstream.
