Alvaro Valenzuela is a Sydney based artist who works mainly with oil paints. Alvaro holds a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Western Sydney and has a Masters Degree of design from the University of Technology Sydney. His works incorporate techniques used in graphic design and fine art. The main theme in his work focuses on the nature of time and human existence. He is concerned with the historical connections with the land. During the late-80s he worked with Boomalli Aboriginal Artist cooperative in a satellite exhibition for the 9th Biennial of Sydney. He collaborated with Judy Watson to produce a mural, working with pigments, to interpret the theme of terra nullius from the point of view of the first peoples. At the same time as producing art, he has worked as a graphic designer to produce print and web solutions for varies clients. Throughout the years he has incorporated both graphics techniques and oil painting techniques to produce a unique style. His graphic design covers an extensive area, from typography to print production and software development. He tries to express both of these elements in his art. He has an extensive understanding of different mediums, software and has produced many innovative solutions for clients. This includes producing typographical solutions for clients such as typefaces using a program by the name of Fontographer. Throughout his career, he has mixed printing technologies with fine arts. He is currently working on a more bold style fusing technology and materials to produce fine art.
