Kyra started designing clothes from a young age, learning to hand-stitch, knit and crochet from her grandmother. In high school, she saved her pocket money to buy material from the remnants bin at Spotlight so she could hand-sew new clothing for herself.
During her final year of high school, she majored in Textiles & Design and Visual Arts, and spent many lunchtimes utilizing the school’s sewing machines for her own projects, including costumes for school dances. After graduating from high school, Kyra started her career as a sewing machinist, learning how to use industrial sewing machines and sew men’s workshirts. After the birth of her first son, she was inspired to start her own home-based business sewing modern cloth nappies and other various baby accessories, which she has been running successfully for 4 years now.
